What is Vingetti?

A Tarot-Based Card game that makes psychodynamic theory FUN.

The Rules Are Simple (Unlike Our Issues)

Step 1 – Find a neutral place: Somewhere comfortable where you can observe and discuss.
Step 2 – Gather your posse of analysts: At least 2 players who know the analytical canon reasonably well (or really want to learn it).
Step 3 – Pick a card, and engage in dreaming: Each turn, one player chooses a random card and applies the theoretical framework.
Analyst's Note: Try to avoid sadism and passing criticism. This isn't a verbatim session where everyone tries to show they're better than others, but rather an entertaining game that comes to practice theory. We expect a benevolent and compassionate alter-ego from everyone here. ✨

Your Therapeutic Arsenal

🧠 Theorist Cards (36 Flavors of Psychological Wisdom)

Featuring the greatest hits from psychoanalytic history:

Freud: Drive, Oedipus, Melancholia (because someone has to blame the parents)
Klein: Splitting, Projective Identification, Greed (she really understood people)
Winnicott: Play, False Self, Good Enough Mother (finally, some self-compassion)
Lacan: Symbolic Real, Object Petit A (for when you want to sound really smart)
And Friends: Ferenczi, Kohut, Bion, Ogden, Bollas, and the whole gang!

🎭 Enactment Cards (The Plot Twist Trio)

Empathic Failure: The participant who received this card must turn to the previous participant and hurt her hard with complete randomness and great sadness. (It happens to everyone, really.)

Freudian Slip: Say the first thing that pops into your head with complete randomness. Others can express something relevant or irrelevant, or actually what is relevant?

The Fifth Analyst: The participant who actually analyzes everything that went on here according to her own perspective. Will she refer to her friend's previous interpretation? Or to the lack of empathy emanating from the one before her?

What's The Point? (A Surprisingly Deep Question)

The goal is exactly like the goal of therapy for neurotic personality organization with high functioning. It also ends when therapy for a high-functioning neurotic ends. As it said: The wise person needs only a clue.

Therefore, every time a participant asks "wait, so what's the goal of Vingetti?" we give them a look full of holding and full of ray of darkness. As Freud said: Meaning, we stay silent, nod and let them understand they just asked a stupid question because the game speaks for itself.

Ready to Analyze Some Strangers?

Whether you're a seasoned analyst who's heard it all, a trainee still figuring out your countertransference, or just someone who enjoys armchair psychology (we see you), Vingetti will change how you see the world.

Warning: Side effects may include increased insight, uncontrollable urge to interpret everything, and the ability to spot defense mechanisms from across a coffee shop.
